Statement The series of paintings were produced during the year 2004. These paintings are a luminous celebration of the transcendental landscape. These four feet (122 cm x 122 cm) square sky images convey exuberance that functions simultaneously in the world of the familiar and the unfamiliar. The paintings engender a sense of atmosphere through which nature and natural forms beckon. Even though the works are representative, they lean towards coloristic abstraction. The paintings are blurrily recognizable, with a rudimentary horizon line, and no sign of human habitation. They emulate the passage of time and weather, including a quiet contemplative mood through a luminous sky suffused with delicately graduated coloration. All my techniques and skills are placed at the service of a final effect of radiant simplicity nothing but sky and earth, and sky and sea. My work combines a coexistence of the realities of observational truths and intuitive. I believe art is a powerful force in the world of sensory perception. In this series of paintings I beautifully celebrate this force.
