The variability of a term or a word can evoke different meanings. This process can be vividly experienced in the acoustic discourse with the Other. One and the same sound can be understood differently depending on the context and individual horizon of meaning. Based on the aurally misunderstood term DISPLAYS, the exhibition playfully leaves the phonetic interpretation of the English word open.

The DISPLACED students from Florian Waldvogel's "Curatorial Practice" seminar at the Linz University of Art curate and stage THIS PLACE experimentally in the disused industrial area of St. Bartlmä in Innsbruck. The artistic concept focuses on a playful examination of the space and uses it as a medium to make it tangible for visitors.

The individual contributions illustrate art as a free play space through which the seekers are guided by a treasure map. The fascination of searching, finding and discovering, often also the unexpected and misunderstood, is the common thread that visitors are invited to follow.
